Happy Birthday Mom

46 years ago at 7 a.m. on October 16, 1962 you were born in Havana, Cuba. You gave us all a life time of love, laughter, and happiness. You live on in our memories which reflect the past and in our dreams which look towards the future. You taught your parents that miracles can come when new life is brought into the world... You taught your sisters that the best friendships come from family...And you taught your children that mothers are the every day hero, the rock, and the inspiration to do good on our earth. As for the rest of the world, you taught people that there is unbelievable strength in those who look into their hearts and that even a beautiful, feminine, little woman who loves wearing her big high heels can show the courage of a lion.

Mom, you are the inspiration in my life. The light. The rock.

The reason I used Somewhere Over The Rainbow for the song is because many years ago when we were in the car talking, this song came on the radio and you told me that the day you passed on from this earth that you didn't want us to cry and grieve you in depression. You wanted us to listen to the words of this song, learn from them and enjoy our lives.

Quote at the end:
“You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.” - David Harkins
